DIY Brush holder

I I love candles, but I never know what to do with the empty jar once it's all used up. I really hate throwing away perfectly good stuff and I so try to recycle whenever possible. Anyway, since my makeup table has gotten so clutter over the past few months, I've decided to do a little redecorating... and found a perfect way to recycle/re-purpose the empty candle jar- My very own makeup brush holder. See 'read more' to find out how to make one for yourself.

               Make-Up Brush Holder

The make-up brush holder is made from a recycled glass candle jar. Make sure you wash away any wax residue. Add rocks and VOILA- you have your own brush holder. What I like about this holder is that it does not take up a lot of room on my make-up table. Also, by standing the brushes upward, the brushes have time to completely dry before my next use. I've noticed my brushes start to smell if I leave it in my makeup bag for too long. So this is a perfect fix.

I also made my own cotton & Q-tip holder.

This cotton and Q-tip jar is actually a small food storage jar I bought from Ikea a while back. It comes in a pack of two for just under $3. What I like about this is that it keeps my cotton and Q-tips clean and dust free. I love that the jar is made out of glass thus giving it a more clean, but expensive look.

So what do you think?

  1. Very cute! I don't have much room for things on my counter, so I keep make-up brushes and make-up in a bamboo box on the shelf. Yours look classier!

  2. Thanks! I usually keep mine in a makeup bag.. but then after a while the brushes would start to smell after >_< Blah. Anyway, I figured standing the brushes up would allow it to get some air and dry faster. So far it's been working great. =)
