Japanese Gocco Printing

How unique! These prints (below) were made by flashing bulbs, similar to ones you would find in old cameras, onto carbon paper. By doing so it creates a stencil image onto the screen. This process is called gocco- it's an old Japanese color screen printing system invented in 1977. I've never heard of this before, so I find it pretty interesting.

Here's an example of gocco printing made by CinnabarTree

Using Gocco gives the prints a lovely texture and a hand-made feel.
So, what do you think? Pretty neat right?

  3. That is very creative and unique. It amazes me how people can find such interesting materials to create arts.

Thank you for your kind words. It is great to know there is also another Thai right here :). I hope your family is safe and sound. My parents send me a bunch of updated pictures this past weekend and it was such a comfort to know people are helping each other. Nam Jai still does exist in Thai society depite the ongoing political drama and such. Thanks for stopping by.
